"It is like watching a magic trick. We cannot understand how it is done. So we ask: how can the magician change a couple of white silk scarves into a live rabbit?

A lot of people experience the world with the same incredulity as when a magician suddenly pulls a rabbit out of a hat which has just been shown to them empty.

In the case of the rabbit, we know the magician has tricked us. What we would like to know is just how he did it. But when it comes to the world it's somewhat different. We know that the world is not all sleight of hand and deception because we are in it, we are part of it. Actually, we are the white rabbit being pulled out of the hat.

The only difference between us and the white rabbit is that the rabbit does not realise it is taking part in a magic trick. Unlike us. We feel we are part of something mysterious and we would like to know how it all works."

Excerpt from Sophie's World, by Jostein Gaarder.

I have to admit that reading is prime requirement in order to excel in everything thats related to journalism. Even in the word 'JOURNALISM", there's the word 'JOURNAL'. So, it's pretty much a must to read read read and then write write write to let our creativity flow flow flow. Haha so that's why i've been reading whatever material i can find, whether its what i like to read or stuff i don't ever read, i've been blogging more often now than the last few months. And i've been writing to the papers. Just love the part when my stuff actually gets published. I think it plays a super important role in my self-believe and self-esteem, as well. Haha. So anyway, here are some of the stuff i'm reading now or gonna read after i finish the ones i'm reading now.
  1. The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein
  2. Last Night I Dreamed of Peace by Dang Thuy Tram
  3. Long Walk to Freedom by Nelson Mandela
  4. Unaccustomed Earth by Jhumpa Lahiri
  5. Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult
Asian Geographic : Festivals Issue
Dont know why, perhaps it's just the transitions in life. I have reduced in buying or reading romantic novels and stuff like that. I used to purchase Meg Cabot books and am addicted on reading lovey-dovey teenage novels and croon over them for a while. I mean, i still like them and read them once in a while but i think it's pretty much a waste of money. On the other hand, i read more autobiography stuff and non-fictions. Like the other day, i realised i spent most my time in MPH in the Humanities section more than my usual spot in the Fiction part. Guess i've matured and grown to like more real solid stuff that will help shape my future. reading travelogues, autobiographies and Newsweek have made me know more on global issues and what is really happening to the world right now. Reading about a traveller's quest in helping Nepali girls get education and providing water and food to people in Kenya moves me in a way that inspire me to do the exact same.

Tunes I dig :
  1. Love Me - JJ Heller
  2. Scratch - Kendall Payne
  3. Bills, Bills, Bills -Glee Cast
  4. Be My Honeypie -The Weepies
  5. Moanin' -Casey Abrams and Haley Reinhart
  6. I Don't Dance (Step Up 3D Remix) - Fred Astaire
  7. Your Song -Elton John
  8. Arms -Christina Perri
  9. Who You Are -Jessie J
  10. Zombie -The Pretty Reckless
Catch you guys later !

Stuff I'm currently into:
in other words, stuff i'd like to do after spm but due to procrastination and laziness, they havent been striked off from the list yet.

  • Well, initially, it was read as many novels as possible. But, I guess plans change and now, I think I have to go with read as many quality reading material as possible. Autobiographies are the way to go, for me, for now. Have been interested in Nelson Mandela's life story nowadays. You know, the Apartheid and how he fought that crazy yet stupid thing. I mean, it's great and very heroic and all but being a person who's been there and experienced South African life for a month, I realised that discrimination does exists, still. Maybe just not as put-out and public, how their feelings show towards each other (the Whites and the Blacks), but you can see, clearly (in fact!) that thw Whites and the Blacks don't really mix around, all that much. Well, excluding the ones whose working with you or in the same club or something like that. But other that them, mild discrimination is in the South African air.
  • Watch as many drama as possible. I'm done watching Glee and everyepisode never fails to make me smile. Glee is way beyond awesome! Finished watching No Regrets. I love HK dramas, in a whole. They are just so exciting and every episode makes you wanna catch the next episode. It's epic. Then there is Gossip Girl which I just borrowed from Nisha a few days ago. And, i've done watching Season 1 yesterday. Spent the whole morning and afternoon, just glueing my eyes to the TV screen. Mum got pissed like mad. But whatever, gonna catch Season two later.
  • Thailand. Vietnam. Cambodia. Anywhere in the South-East Asia part of the world. I dont know. One things true, thats I find  the temples and old shrines fascinating. The people, the unique delicacies and all them naiseeee nature and wildlife. Great destinations for awesome shots. I wanna go there!!! Anybody, care to backpack up north with me? :)

XOXO, gossip girl.
