the book nook

I have to admit that reading is prime requirement in order to excel in everything thats related to journalism. Even in the word 'JOURNALISM", there's the word 'JOURNAL'. So, it's pretty much a must to read read read and then write write write to let our creativity flow flow flow. Haha so that's why i've been reading whatever material i can find, whether its what i like to read or stuff i don't ever read, i've been blogging more often now than the last few months. And i've been writing to the papers. Just love the part when my stuff actually gets published. I think it plays a super important role in my self-believe and self-esteem, as well. Haha. So anyway, here are some of the stuff i'm reading now or gonna read after i finish the ones i'm reading now.
  1. The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein
  2. Last Night I Dreamed of Peace by Dang Thuy Tram
  3. Long Walk to Freedom by Nelson Mandela
  4. Unaccustomed Earth by Jhumpa Lahiri
  5. Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult

Dont know why, perhaps it's just the transitions in life. I have reduced in buying or reading romantic novels and stuff like that. I used to purchase Meg Cabot books and am addicted on reading lovey-dovey teenage novels and croon over them for a while. I mean, i still like them and read them once in a while but i think it's pretty much a waste of money. On the other hand, i read more autobiography stuff and non-fictions. Like the other day, i realised i spent most my time in MPH in the Humanities section more than my usual spot in the Fiction part. Guess i've matured and grown to like more real solid stuff that will help shape my future. reading travelogues, autobiographies and Newsweek have made me know more on global issues and what is really happening to the world right now. Reading about a traveller's quest in helping Nepali girls get education and providing water and food to people in Kenya moves me in a way that inspire me to do the exact same.
