Flashback: Christmas Spirit at The Curve and Solaris

Okay guys, I know I haven't been blogging about my life, my likes and well, anything at all! well, I'm not gonna make any lame excuses like saying I was too busy with schoolwork or being held up by emotions and crappy days. I WAS JUST PLAIN LAZY. thank you very much.

Anyway, as I was scrolling down my dashboard. I thought, why not continue blogging about what happened during the one week I was in KL before and after Langkawi! Yup, I went twice! One for LIMA which was one helluva experience and the other was on a holiday with mi familia.

...

Went to The Curve one of the days of the week I was in KL. 'Cause mum called and asked me to get Chinese New Year outfits there! I was nothing but thrilled and glad! I've always wanted to go to The Curve since last Dec 'cause I remember that their Xmas' decorations were always really pretty. This year was not too bad. It was themed blue. Coincidentally, I bought a pair of turquoise jeans from Padini which reminded me of the ocean and a navy blue dress. I love'em both! Can't wait to wear them during new year. Oh and I also got a brown feather belt and long brown feather earrings which I adore so much =)

The thing about The Curve that I really like is that walkway connecting The Curve and Ikano, if I'm not mistaken. The street market has lots of lil' cutesy trinkets, quirky gift ideas and vintage bags, up for sale in a reasonable price. The whole vibe gave me a sense of belonging, well, I've always wanted to be in a flea market or a street market. Considering I'm not exactly much of a fan of buying those pathetically expensive branded hi-fi goods, I was in my own little happy place.

Had Bubba Gump Shrimp Factory for lunch. It was super duper expensive but pretty worth it. The decor was really authentic and all of 'em are related to my childhood movie - Forrest Gump! I have always loved that movie. I shall let the pictures tell the story now :)

The food was GREAT ! It was really worth every cent, I would say. We shared the Pear and Berry Salad (RM28.90). It's basically Char-boiled chicken tossed with fresh greens, strawberries, pears and honey glazed pecans. Topped with a dash of Peta Cheese and dressed with Raspberry Vinaigrette. The olive oil and vinegar in the vinaigrette doesn't over-power the sweetness of the fruits. So, it was a great blend of sweet and salty.

We had the Run Across America Sampler (RM43.90) as our appetizer. They have this nice buttered shrimp served with lemon which left me speechless. My favourites are definitely the spicy chicken strips which were sour with a tinge of spicy and the Dip and Chips. Bubba's Far Out Dip and Chips was this nacho-like chips best eaten with the spinach dip.

Main courses! All of us shared the Mama Gump's Grilled Lamb Rack (RM44.90) and the Crazy Cajun Chicken (RM28.90). Both were delicious and will leave you craving for more! The succulent rack of lamb was served with mashed potatoes and grilled veggies on the side. Unlike many lamb ribs I have tasted, it didn't have the lamb smell when I was eating it which made it more delicious!

The Crazy Cajun Chicken are lightly Cajun spices marinated grilled boneless chicken thighs which are served with seasonal veggies and mashed potatoes. Yum is the understatement !

My uncle came back from abroad one of the days, so we went out to Solaris @ Mont Kiara for dinner and to jalan-jalan. It was my first time there and it was really nice. The place gave me the impression of a boulevard in Hollywood or Los Angeles. There were bars, cafes, coffee houses, restaurants, supermarkets, pretty christmas decor and there were less cars. We headed to this Chinese restaurant called Peking Duck since Popo was with us.

While we were cam-whoring, people started walking in and passing our table. One shirt of a guy caught my eye and I was thinking to myself, mmm, nice shirt. As I averted my eyes upwards to check the guy's face, it looked freakishly familiar, like I've seen him before somewhere. Then it struck me, it was LEE CHONG WEI ! OMG ! He was sitting at the table right beside ours! Koo Kien Keat, a doubles player was with him too! Sadly, he and his gang moved upstairs into the private rooms. Guess he didn't want crazy fans like us to stare him down as he took every bite. Haha!

I swear my cousins and I were talking crazy ideas to get into the room. Some of them were extremely funny! Like when we saw a waiter coming down, I was like let's punch him unconscious and steal his uniform and get into the room to serve him! Just like in the movies!

After walking around to improve digestion, we had desserts and drinks this lil' bar/cafe called Michelangelo's. We ordered two desserts, one something ciocolatta and the other was a creme brulee. YUM ! but $$$ ! I shared a grapetini with my cousins. And it tasted smooth and nice. The ambience gave me this very i'm-at-some-picturesque-french-cafe-along-some-quiet-alley-on-a-silent-night vibe. Loved it :)

Yee2, Yee Cheong and I :)

So, I heard there is another Solaris in Dutamas that's bigger, I guess. I shall make it a point to visit there some day and I really wanna get to Publika. Heard so much about it! The space, the art and the food. So, oh yeah! Anyone, care to join me? LOL

Updates! Soon!
