A couple weeks ago, after shopping with the familia, we had our spontaneous night-hunts for supper again and this time, it was to this place called Kampung Senibong, near Permas Jaya. What's for supper? Typically Malaysian breakfast/lunch/dinner meal of Nasi Lemak Berlauk and Teh Tarik, of course! My parents used to bring me here when I was a kid and I still remember the stilts, the gushing of waves overlapping underneath the planks where we ate, the sea breeze that left our faces sticky and salty afterwards and who could forget the savoury plate of Nasi Lemak?
What: Nasi Lemak Ayam Berlauk // Where: Malam Indah Selalu // Price: RM5.00 |
If you're ordering a single plate of Nasi Lemak Berlauk, what you're signing up for is beyond what you may expect. It is better. and I'm not even kidding around or over-exaggerating here. This plate of traditional Malay fragrant rice is served with crispy and savoury fried chicken which isn't too cooked until it's texture's hard or dry but just nice and tender, a stash of mixed vegetables at the side, a sunny side up fried egg and sambal ikan bilis. This whole meal is topped with a poppadom. What's not to love? Savouring a meal with your loved ones, wind in your hair, gentle overlapping of waves as your personal playlist for the night. The place opens at about 5pm and is open till 1am the next morning. Overall, I'd give it a 5/5, hands down!
If you would like a down-to-earth, humble Malaysian dinner that is not at a high-end restaurant or right smack in the middle of a hustling and bustling hawker centre but a more soothing environment, or you're looking for a calming and more peaceful place to break fast and at the same time savour good food that doesn't burn a hole in your pocket, I recommend you come to Senibong and try out theri Nasi Lemak Berlauk. It is definitely worth your time, your money and your tastebuds.
Note that there's a parking fee of RM2.00 upon arrival :)
