the undergrad journal | to a new beginning

Crazy would have been an understatement for the last few months, in terms of my academic transition. That would be my lame-ass excuse for the lack of posting here on Off The Record. Thanks for sticking around, those of you who have been following my random ramblings. In a blink of an eye, it's August! And I still remember posting my liberation collage on here, declaring my 9-month-long freedom. Freedom from school, homework, exams and from having to think of a reason why not to finish revising all textbook topics. University applications were long over and it was time for entrance interviews, scholarship interviews and, well, basically, a whole lot of future-changing decisions to make in a crunch of time.

Throughout that what-seemed-like-forever month of nervous interviews, I came back in June, with a so many things in my head to deal with. My close friends would probably know about the dilemma I was going through. It was a constant blur around stark comparisons between the usual Public Uni versus Private Uni argument, environment differences, the (in)existence of segregation, language used in lectures and the list goes into an abyss. A lot of times, I was just trying to delay making those important decisions and psyching myself into thinking that there's still time when everyone knew (including myself) that time was really running out.

Thankfully, it was also during that period of time when I realised that there were people around me who's always willing and more than happy to guide me and be there for me, no matter what decision I was to make. My family who voluntarily cut me some slack and did their own extensive research in hopes of aiding me in making the right decision (in my own terms), my closest friends who were there to tell me they understood what I was going through and were there for me when I needed to take my thinking cap off for a bit and just people who have gone through what I was going through extended their helping hand in sharing with me their personal experiences. Last but not least, God, who have been always there, carving and making this transition a thought-out and smooth one.

One week into the month of August and I've started my varsity life and I must say, so far, it has been pretty awesome! I'm now proud to say that I'm a The Star scholarship holder, doing a Bachelor in Communications and Media Studies (Marketing Communications and Advertising) at the University of Wollongong, INTI Subang Campus.

Though I am indeed extremely honoured and thoughtful to have been awarded a scholarship, getting a scholarship is one thing. Sustaining a scholarship is another thing ;)

(this post is part of an 'off the record' blogpost series, the undergrad journal, where i post stuff about the wily and wild life of an undergrad. check out my first undergrad transition rant here!)
