During my one-week stay in the nation's capital at my aunt's place for the lunar new year holidays, we went to the famous Dong Zen Temple, located in the heart of Jenjarom, a village on the outskirts of Kuala Langat, Selangor. The Dong Zen Temple is one of the many Fo Guang Shan branches in Malaysia. Basically, FGS which means 'The Mountain of Buddha's Hill' is founded by one Taiwanese Grand Master Hsing Yun whose aims are to promote Humanistic Buddhism,. integrating the Buddha's teachings philosophy of kindness, compassion, joyfulness and equanimity into practice. It is about a 45min to an hours drive from downtown Shah Alam. Although this is a Buddhist temple, this temple is also a famous tourist destination with a multi-purpose hall, various gardens with different arhats and a plethora of pretty floras surrounding the whole place, a prayer hall, and booths.
It was during the Chinese New Year period when I was there, so since it coincides with the annual Taiwanese Flora and Lantern Festival which normally happens for 15 days. There were many flowers on display, real pretty ones I might add, lanterns of all sorts and a street displaying the many cultures of Taiwan. I, personally would recommend to go at night, when all the lights are lit up.

I think this is really a place for a nice stroll, in the evening
to soak up the freshness of the dewy flowery scents
and to appreciate Mother Nature and the tranquility it brings to life
even if you're not a Buddhist, you are welcome to
explore. discover. dream.
